Used primarily in Cosmetics & Personal Care, Industrial / Manufacturing, and Solvents & Cleaning applications, Tridecane is specifically used in chemical intermediate, conditioning agent, emollient, and solvent.

Tridecane is a C13 linear saturated hydrocarbon that functions as a skin conditioning agent – emollient in cosmetic formulations and as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of other substances (EC 2024, MilliporeSigma 2024). It is  manufactured through the refinement of petroleum, in which n-paraffins are
isolated from the kerosene fraction via adsorption to molecular sieves or adduction with urea and then distilled (PubChem 2024).

Chemical Synonyms N-Tridecane; Dodecane, methyl- (PubChem 2024).
