Ethylhexylglycerin is an alkyl glyceryl ether that is produced through the splitting of ethylhexyl glycidyl ether followed by addition of water and purification. Ethylhexylglycerin is used in cosmetic products at concentrations up to 8% (as of 2013) as a skin conditioning agent and to enhance the efficacy of preservatives (CIR 2013).
