Used primarily in and Cosmetics & Personal Care applications, Piroctone olamine is specifically used in abrasive, conditioning agent, emollient, and preservative.

Piroctone olamine is the ethanolamine salt of piroctone. It functions as a preservative in cosmetic formulations (EC 2023). Piroctone olamine is listed in Annex V, Section 35 of EC Regulation No. 1223/2009 as a preservative that is acceptable for use in cosmetic products at concentrations up to 1.0% in rinse-off products and up to 0.5% in leave-on products (EC 2023).
