Cuprous oxide is an inorganic compound that occurs in nature as cuprite ore. It is a reddish crystalline powder that is formed at high temperatures through oxidation (Brady et al. 2002). Cuprous oxide has several functional uses, such as the active ingredient in anti-fouling boat paints. Additionally, it is used in pigments, as a fungicide, and a catalyst in analytical chemistry
